Hi, I'm Maggie Ammons!

Some people fall into photography later in life — I’ve been chasing it for as long as I can remember.

I begged my mom for an old Polaroid I spotted at a flea market and took photos of everything: her temperamental shih-tzu, the flowers and bulbs in her ever-expanding garden, quiet corners of everyday life that felt important even if I didn’t know why yet. That Polaroid turned into a point-and-shoot, which turned into a Fujifilm, which turned into a Nikon— and eventually into the career I always hoped I’d be brave enough to build.

Today, I specialize in engagements, weddings, and creative portraits, capturing moments that feel honest, emotional, and deeply personal.

I’ve always felt things deeply — especially art. I’m endlessly inspired by the way we get to see the world through someone else’s eyes, and by the power of freezing a fleeting moment before it fades. I spent years lost in magazines, galleries, and oversized photography coffee-table books, dreaming quietly of turning passion into something real.

That dream became reality during maternity leave, while staying home with my daughter. One day, I decided to stop waiting and simply try. I’ll forever be grateful to past-me for taking that leap — for believing she could build her own business, her own brand, and a career rooted in creativity and connection.

When you work with me, you’re getting more than a photographer.

I approach every session with intention, thoughtful planning, and genuine empathy. I’m here as a calm presence, a listener, a problem-solver — fixing dress trains and boutonnieres, carrying blankets and champagne, helping you laugh through the awkward moments and soak in the joyful ones. I’ll guide you when you need it, step back when a moment deserves space, and always make sure you feel seen and comfortable being yourself.

Outside of photography, I’m a kayaker, mountain hiker, coffee connoisseur, and a proud mom to three lovely little humans — all of which shape the way I move through the world and connect with people.

Whether I’m documenting your engagement, wedding day, baby announcement, anniversary, or family session, I’m here for both the biggest milestones and the quiet in-between moments. My goal is for every client to feel welcomed, appreciated, and content — knowing their story is being captured with care.

If you’re looking for imagery that feels real, thoughtful, and true to who you are — I’d be honored to tell your story.

“We are so lucky we found Maggie to do our engagement pictures at Rough Ridge Lookout! She was very communicative and hiked with us over 30 minutes to get stunning views for our photos. We brought my dog along with us, and she even went so far as to bring a squeaky toy and treats to capture her attention while we took pictures. Maggie's bright, friendly personality made us feel natural in front of the camera and she gave us just the right amount of direction for variety in our poses.”
